Start with a conversation about your hair and scalp. Understanding the cause of thinning is the first step in deciding whether PRP belongs in your care plan.
Often a series; number and maintenance individually assessed
UNDERSTAND YOUR TREATMENT
What is the treatment?
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is prepared from a small sample of your own blood, processed to concentrate platelets, then injected into the scalp. Research suggests it may help some forms of hair thinning, but it is not a treatment for every cause of hair loss.
Potential benefits
May support hair density in selected types of thinning
Uses plasma prepared from your own blood
A plan that can be reviewed against your response
Who is it suitable for?
An assessment of the cause of hair loss is essential. Sudden, patchy or unexplained hair loss may require a GP or dermatologist first. Blood disorders, some medicines and scalp infection can affect suitability.
Aftercare & your next steps
Follow your practitioner’s advice on washing your hair and using scalp products.
Avoid rubbing injection sites and ask when exercise can resume.
Report persistent pain, increasing redness, swelling or signs of infection.
A few things to consider
Tenderness, bruising, bleeding and infection are possible. Results differ and maintenance may be discussed. The additional benefit of the biotin option should not be assumed; ask why it is being recommended.
