Lip fillers are injectable gels used to alter lip volume or definition. Many are based on hyaluronic acid. Product choice, amount, technique and realistic expectations must be discussed before treatment; the lowest price is not a recommendation for a particular volume.
An adult consultation includes medical history, allergies, previous filler, cold sores, medicines and pregnancy or breastfeeding. Treatment may be deferred or declined when it is not appropriate.
Swelling, bruising, lumps, infection and allergic reactions can occur. Rare blood-vessel blockage can damage tissue or vision. Severe or increasing pain, pale or mottled skin, or visual symptoms need immediate medical assessment.
